Even though I am excited to leave high school and experience life differently, the thought of knowing that my last winter break of my high school years has passed has made me emotional. Since it was the last one I’ll probably have free, I wanted to take advantage of it and really enjoy it by spending a lot of time with my loved ones. During the holidays there were many hugs and happy moments. My family was more together than other years and that was a really great feeling. We went on a small family trip to St. Maria for religious purposes but we stopped at the beach. Standing by the beach and feeling the breeze was such a relaxing feeling. Although there were a lot of family reunions during winter break, I still took some time to study and finish assignments for the end of the semester. Winter break was a very efficient time to get caught up in a few assignments.
I am finally in the second semester of senior year. So far I love the arrangement of my new schedule because I have better classes. Last semester I chose elective classes that I didn’t need and were hard to pass. I fell behind and I now regret not putting enough effort. I feel like I could of passed if I would of stayed after school and asked for more help. As a consequence of not passing two elective classes I now have assignments due from last semester along with assignments from this semester. Unaccomplished assignments have put me behind pace and as a senior with limited time, I understand that I must put my greatest effort if I want to be successful. On the other hand, not everything from last semester was a fail. I passed the semester of my required classes for graduation, along with other electives. Also, I will not forget all the good laughs and memories I made with my friends. I think the toughest part of leaving high school is saying goodbye to our close friends.
The end of my last semester went by flying. I remember when seniors from previous years would say that senior year goes by super fast. At first I wouldn’t believe it, specially when I was a freshmen. Now as a senior I think back and say to myself, “wow senior year is really going by fast”. Senior year can be really stressful but it's really exciting. Its exciting to wait for graduation, prom, Grad Night and other events. It’s also kind of fun thinking that as a senior we’re like the oldest class and like a role model for the younger ones. Before senior year ends I must complete all my courses required to graduate and finish applying for scholarships.
At the beginning, college applications were kind of confusing to apply for but with the help of my counselor and college representatives that came to help students I got them done well. I have applied to College of the Sequoias and for its scholarship yet,I am still currently applying for many others. I really hope to qualify for scholarships because my family is not always economically stabled and sometimes there is barely money for the house needs. Getting money from my mother to study a career is not part of my goals, which is why I want to apply to the most scholarships possible and hope for the best. My plan for college was to study full time however, that is not always possible. I am still trying to figure out what is best for me to do. If I qualify for financial aid and scholarships I'm thinking of attending college full time but if that doesn't go right I plan on finding a job that can still allow me to attend college.
